Gary Stephens, 80, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 11:15 AM, surrounded by his children.

Born December 19, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Gary was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran and worked as a glass grinder for 23 years. In addition to his career, he also delivered newspapers for 28 years, a job he truly enjoyed. He retired in 2011 after a lifetime of dedication and hard work. In his spare time he had regularly coached youth bowling.

Gary was a loving father to his daughter, Renee, and son, Jason Stephens. He was also a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Nevaeh, and was a grandfather figure to many others who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Stephens, mother, Irma Homer, father, Jesse Stephens, and sisters, Carolyn Guthier and Nancy Smith; and brother, Dale Stephens.

Gary's family will receive friends at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025, with calling one hour prior. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association in Gary's memory.
