George "Herm" Hagerman, 79 of Churubusco passed away June 3, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born July 12, 1945, in Fort Wayne, the son of George C. and Esther (Schaefer) Hagerman. He married Marie Hudson on April 27, 1969; she survives.

He was an avid I.U. Basketball and Bobby Knight fan. Being named after Babe Ruth, he had love for baseball and enjoyed coaching Little League, hunting and fishing. Throughout the years, he chaperoned the band and choir kids, traveling with them to their competitions which even took them to Germany.

George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marie; two children, Jason Hagerman and Bradley (Brittany) Hagerman; seven grandchildren, Kylie, David, Garrett, Grant, Nate, Riley and Raegan and a sister Marie Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Ruth Hollopter, Marilyn Steller, Shirley Roggensee, Joan Waltke, Richard Haag and David Hagerman.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804 and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens with military honors.
