George M. Mayhew, 88, of Fort Wayne, died Friday Jan. 9, 2009 at Saint Joseph Hospital. Born Feb 12, 1920 in Logansport, he retired from Dana in 1977 after 30 years and was a WW II Navy veteran. He was a member of American Legion post 499, Steelworkers 9902 Auxiliary, a board member of DEAA for over 25 years and President of Dana retiree group for 20 years. He is survived by daughters, Sherry (Phil) Rahe of Anderson and Jeri Mayfield of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marilyn V. Mayhew. Service Tuesday 11 a.m. with calling one hour prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. calling also Monday 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
