Obituary

Gerald "Max" Douglass, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, January 26, 2018, at home with his family. Max was born in Grant County to the late Verlin and Bernice (Bentley) Douglass.  He graduated from Lancaster Township High School in 1952.  Max went on to serve his county in the Army.  He retired from Zollner Pistons after 30 years of service.  He was a priest at the New Apostolic Church.

Max is survived by two daughters, Helga (Steven) Fortmeyer and Sigrid Rothgeb both of Fort Wayne; sisters, Barbara (the late, John) Barger of Decatur, Mary Ann (Keith) Eller and Nancy (Walter) Rogers both of Huntington; four grandchildren, Jay Dee, Brian, Scott and Fred; nine great grandchildren, Charlee, Malarie, Micalah, Jacob, Dillon, Michael, Madison, and twin girls Mindy and Megan; and five great great grandchildren, Kaiden, Laela, Calvin James "C.J.", Jhazmine and Quinn.

Max was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 48 years, Anita C. Douglass, on January 15, 2004.

Memorial Service is 1 p.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the New Apostolic Church, 3401 Terry Lane, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to the service.

Memorials are to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
