GERALD "JERRY" JUERGENS, 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Heritage Park, Fort Wayne. Born Feb. 9, 1919, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Henry and Louise Juergens. He served in the 4th Infantry of the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star. He and his wife, Grace were charter members of St. Michael Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne. He was employed by Essex Wire, retiring in 1982. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Grace moved to Winter Haven, Fla. where he resided until returning to Fort Wayne in 2005. He is survived by a son, Gerald "Gary" (Anna) Juergens of Huntington; daughter, Loraine (Terry) Hively of Fort Wayne; sister, Clara Oyer of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Grace (Bogan) Juergens; brother, Erwin Juergens; and sister, Lealah Betley. As requested, there will not be a service. "He will forever be remembered by his family and many friends."
