GERALD DEAN KIMMEL, 79, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 7:06 a.m., at Grace Village Health Care. Born June 30, 1931, in Noble County, Indiana, he was the son of the late Donald Guy and Lora Ethel (nee, Hypes) Kimmel. He was married on April 28, 1952 to Marlene Joan Moser, she survives. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1949, he served 36 years, retiring in 1986. He has been a resident of Kosciusko County, Indiana for the past four years, where he attended Grace Village Chapel in Winona Lake, Indiana.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Marlene Joan Kimmel of Winona Lake, Indiana; daughter, Deborah (Dale) Trahin of Fort Wayne; sons, Bradley (Linda) and Barton (Shelley) Kimmel both of Fort Wayne, and Matthew (Michelle) Kimmel of Geneso, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Naola Reed of Ligonier; and brother, Gwan (Rose) Kimmel of Fort Wayne. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jocelyn Hess.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Grace Village Chapel of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Indiana officiated by Chaplain Glenn Byers. Burial will be at a later date at Covington Memorial Gardens of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
