Gilbert Laguna, 61, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at home with his wife by his side. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Ralph and Julia Laguna. He was a member of St. Patrick''s Catholic Church of Fort Wayne. He worked as a Machine Operator for over 32 years at Tokheim. He loved his family, dancing, music and cars.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dr. Barbara Burk; step-sons, Chris (Ashlee) Pressler of Toledo, Ohio, Joel (Michelle) Byrd and Eric (Jennifer) Byrd both of Fort Wayne; brothers, Alex, Henry, John, Michael (Randy) all of Fort Wayne and Ralph Jr. (Vanessa) of Texas; sisters, Mary (Raul) Rubalcada and Susan Laguna both of Fort Wayne; step-sister, Theresa Montes of Auburn; and three step-grandchildren, Noah, Evan and Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raul and Joseph Laguna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at St. Patrick''s Catholic Church, 2120 South Harrison Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 Monday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with a Rosary service at 7 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
