Gloria Jean Bowerman Creager, age 98, went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 11, 2024, the same day as her son, Curtis Franklin Creager who passed in 2014. Gloria was a graduate from Reading High in Reading, Michigan in 1943. After graduating and during the war, she worked at Richard Brother Factory until the war was over. She went to Fort Wayne, IN and obtained her license as a Cosmetologist from Wayne Beauty College in October 1946. She married Curtis Dale Creager on April 6, 1947. In Fort Wayne, Indiana she worked at General Electric, Pollack Bros Tailoring and Container Box Corp. She worked at Lutheran Hospital for 7 ½ years, and then retired from Dana in Columbia City, IN in 1991 after 22 years of service. She was also co-owner of Central Refrigeration Co. with her husband. Surviving are four daughters, Carolyn (Richard) Alexander of Ft. Wayne, Phyllis (Dale) Graves of Springfield, OH, Gail (Wayne) Lauer of Columbia City, IN and Cindy (Calvin) McCartney of Ft. Wayne; two sons, Ted Creager of Ft. Wayne and Kevin (Michele) Creager of Ossian, IN; 22 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Dale Creager (1985); son, Curtis Franklin Creager (2014); stepson, Foster Kenneth Creager (2000); stepdaughter, Rosetta Creager Walter (2017);  daughter-in-law, Christie (Ted) Creager; grandson, Brian Carpenter (2017); two great-granddaughters, Katelyn Lauer (2006) and Izabelle Lauer (2016); step grandson, Foster Kenneth Creager Jr. (2024); and granddaughter-in-law, Traci (Chris) Alexander. Gloria was also preceded in death by her parents, Iva and Roy Bowerman; and three brothers, Wayne, Lynn and Weldon Bowerman. Funeral service 1:00pm, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00am to 1:00pm prior to the service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Curtis Dale Creager in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
