Harold Roy Barnett, 85, passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home. Born September 16, 1926 in Whitley County, he was the son of the late Ralph and Stella (Leininger) Barnett. He was a member of the Merchant Marines during WWII and worked at Dana Corporation for 36 years, retiring in 1983.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary; sons and daughters in law, Kenneth and Cathy Barnett of Fort Wayne and David and Beth Barnett of St. Petersburg, Florida; sisters, Evelyn Dennis and Betty Blackburn both of Fort Wayne; son in law, Steve Esterline; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Esterline; brothers, Ralph and Roger Barnett; and a sister, Eloise Cole.
Memorial Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, with calling one hour prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home or Parkview Hospice. www.covingtonmemorial.com
