Harold D. Beineke, a lifelong resident of the Fort Wayne community, passed away on June 5, 2026, in his hometown. Born on January 5, 1952, to the late Donald and Pauline Beineke, Harold’s life was marked by devotion to his family, a passion for sports, and a commitment to fostering joy and camaraderie wherever he went.
A proud graduate of North Side High School in 1970, Harold’s spirited enthusiasm for athletic pursuits remained a defining aspect of his character throughout his life. He was an ardent fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins—teams that fueled his competitive spirit and love of the game. This passion extended beyond mere fandom; Harold imparted the values of teamwork and dedication to his sons, coaching little league teams and sharing countless afternoons teaching them how to play different sports. His active participation in softball and bowling leagues until his seventieth birthday further cemented his reputation as a vibrant and lively sportsman.
Outside the field of play, Harold enjoyed quiet moments at home watching television, particularly savoring Svengoolie movies and professional wrestling programs.
He is survived by his children, Lee (Jennifer) Beineke, Ryan Beineke, and Jeremy (Sheri) Ward; grandchildren, Luke and Max Ward and Micaela and Meya Beineke and seven siblings.
Preceding Harold in death were his parents, his wife Kathy, three siblings, and his wife’s parents, Ralph and Iva Ward.
Visitation will be at Covington Memorial Funeral Home in Fort Wayne on June 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
Harold D. Beineke’s life is remembered as one of faithful commitment—to family, to community, and to the simple joys brought by sport and shared experiences. His spirit endures in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
