Obituary

Harry J. "Little Joe" Bennett III, 70, of Markle, died October 31, 2007 at Lutheran Hospital. Born Sept. 25, 1937 in Fort Wayne, he was a mechanic for AEP. He had a passion for racing and was very active at race tracks throughout the Midwest. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Baer Field & Avilla Raceways where he was known as "Little Joe". He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Bennett; son, Tony J. Bennett of Fort Wayne; daughter, Mindy D. (Thomas) Dawson of Fort Wayne; brothers, Michael Bennett of Angola, and Wendell Bennett of Springfield, Ohio; sister, Cheryl Belcher of Decatur; three grandchildren. Funeral service Monday 11 a.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Calling Sunday 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Victory Junction Gang Camp. A youth camp started by the Petty family for children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses.
