Harry “Randy” Randolph Hines, 71, of Fort Wayne, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born February 8, 1955, in Fort Wayne to Harry and Helene (Starke) Hines. He grew up in Fort Wayne and graduated from Homestead High School. After earning a bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, IL, Randy began teaching Physical Education for Fort Wayne Community Schools. During those years he also earned a master’s degree from IPFW. He retired after 43 years of teaching.

He married Anna Rust on November 4, 1978, and she would be his life partner for the rest of his days.

Randy loved Jesus and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his work as a physical education teacher and enjoyed golf, basketball, running, and planting flowers. He was also a talented artist and especially loved Christmas, taking great joy in creating his own decorations. Randy was a kind and caring man who will be remembered for his warmth, strength, and love for others.

Randy was especially thankful for the doctors and nurses who cared for him during his heart transplant five years ago and would often return to visit and thank them.

Surviving are his wife, Anna; children, Kristen (Joe) Colley and Michael Hines; grandchildren, Samantha, Emersen, Savannah, Devyn, Maxton, and Merrick; his brother, Doug Hines; and his brother and sister-in-Law, Tim and Nada (Rust) Osborne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Marie Scott; and brother, Stan Hines.

For when Randy had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep. Acts 13:36

And is forever with his Lord and Savior.

Visitation will be Tuesday October 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m.
