IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel
Chandler
March 15, 2024
Hazel Chandler was Born on February 26, 1921, in Kilgore, TX to Hays and Bessie (Reid) Mumphrey.
Hazel completed High School and aspired to attend beauty school. Besides this pursuit, she tried her hand at many jobs: including a home laundry business with her sister Lucille King and making potato chips at Seyfert's factory. She was also a part of history as one of many women who worked in factories manufacturing airplane parts that helped with the war effort during WWII.
Hazel was married to Robert Chandler and James Crawford (both deceased). Out of these unions she gave birth to three daughters. Although Hazel loved her family deeply, there was still something missing. Hazel accepted Christ early in her life, and never forgot or neglected her spiritual roots. No matter the hardships, she knew that her faith in God would take her through.
Later in her life she experienced a Great Revelation from God that gave her a new purpose, and forever changed her life. In following the path laid out by God,
she left us all a great legacy of Hope, Love, and a better way of life in Christ. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Julius Moncree; sister Lucille King; her daughter, Bonita Scott; and grandson Alex Chandler. Hazel is survived by her daughters Linda Chandler and Carmen Chandler; and grandson, Brit (Etta) Scott, all of Fort Wayne, IN. Hazel is also survived by nieces Jacqueline Townsend, Debria Moncree, Judy Moncree, Delisa Moncree, and Vanessa (Frank) Gates; a nephew, Richard (Brigel) King; four great grandchildren; six great, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
