Helen M. Knape, 88, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Monday Dec. 1, 2008 at Carolina Medical Center in Pineville, NC. Born Dec. 11, 1919 in New Bavaria, OH, she was a homemaker and member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She is survived by a son, Ronald J. Knape of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Carolyn J. Nash of Napa, CA, and Janet S. Dertien of Lubbock, TX; grandchildren, Scott Yahne, Lori Goodman, Kristy Lindsey and Julie Williams; eight surviving great grandchildren; three surviving brothers; and three surviving sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, and a son, Dale. Service 11 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church 7211 Stellhorn Road.
