Helen L. Stemen, 94, peacefully passed Sunday, March 3, 2013. Born in Hammond, Indiana, she was the daughter to the late Orville and Florence (Hague) Stiffney. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, lovingly involved in the lives of her family. Along with her husband, she was deeply committed to serve her lord in various ministries. She was active in teaching children the truths from God''s Word in Sunday school and Child Evangelism classes. Her gift of hospitality served pastors and missionaries over the years and she was constantly reaching out to meet the needs of others.
She is survived by her three children, daughter, Sharon (Jim) McClain; sons, Daniel (Terri) Stemen and David (Jennifer) Stemen; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Roger Stemen, on January 12, 2006; and a brother, Robert Stiffney.
Funeral Service is 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 15, 2013 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling from 10 to 11:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. The family''s preferred memorials are to the Rescue Mission of Fort Wayne.
