Obituary

Henrietta "Hank" Marie Bongfeldt Long, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away December 13, 2011 at home, after an extended illness. Mrs. Long was born November 19, 1936 in Indianapolis, IN, to Henry Bongfeldt and Edna Vaught Bongfeldt. She attended St. Francis College, wrote for the Fort Wayne Newspaper and modeled in Indianapolis. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs. Long was a devoted Christian with a passion and love for God, family, children, family pets, lake living, gardening, humming birds, butterflies, and life in general. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Bongfeldt & Edna Vaught Bongfeldt. Hank asked a special thank you be given to her daughter Teresa, in appreciation for her loving care and devotion- always ensuring she was comfortable and well taken care of Mom loves you!!! Pallbearers will be: Joshua, Jacob and, Joel Hornbarger; Austen Tyler Bledsoe, Gabrielle Long, Gregory Long II, Danica Dunwiddie and Anna , Austin and Abigail Ort.Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Long Jr., Pamela (Everette) Hornbarger , Tamela (Jim) Conti, Gregory (Tammy) Long, Carter and Teresa Marie Wireman all of Fort Wayne. Grand children: Joshua, Jacob and Joel (Kristen) Hornbarger; Austen Tyler Bledsoe; Danica Dunwiddle, Gabrielle, Gregory Long II and Matt Owens; Jessica Wireman. Great grandchildren: Henrietta "Etta" Hornbarger; Anna, Austin and Abigail Ort. Funeral services will be at 11 am, December, 17, 2011 at Broadway Christian Church, 910 Broadway Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, December 16, 2011 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., Fort Wayne. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Garden Cemetery. Pastor Jason Baeuerle of Broadway Christian Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family of Henrietta "Hank" Long requests donations be made to the IU Simon Cancer Center for Dr. Anna Maria Storniolo''s research.
