Howard J. Aker Jr. died Friday June 17, 2016. Howard was born September 30, 1927 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Howard J. and Thelma Aker. He was a member of the Saturn Christian Church and a member of North Highlands Church of Christ and the Ft. Wayne Kiwanis Club over 50 years. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Howard retired from Omni Source as a welder after 35 years of service.

Surviving are his children, Robert B. (Lourdes) Aker, Marcy E. (Les) Gaerte, James W. (Michelle) Aker, David W. Aker, 11 grandchildren, Carolyn, Ashley, Adam, Josh, Krystal, Tara, Robie, Ricky, Donna, Rachel, Rylan, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Ronald Aker.

Funeral service will be 1:30 Monday June 27, 2016 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with viewing 30 minutes prior to service. Pastor Russell Riley will officiate. There is also calling Sunday June 26 at the funeral home from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery with military honors being provided by United States Navy and American Legion Post 241 Waynedale. Preferred memorials are to Heart to Heart Hospice.
