Howard Wayne Ensch, 86, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He was born June 24, 1927 in Ft. Wayne, IN to the late Lincoln and Esther Ensch. Howard worked 38 years for National Mill Supply as a Senior Truck Driver. He was a member of American Legion Post 241 having been in the Navy during WWII and a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church. He was active in Fast Pitch Softball for the Sappenfield League, Basketball with the Ft. Wayne Turners Club, Bowling Mill Co. League, Key Sportsman League, an avid Cincinnati Reds, I.U. Basketball fan. For years his wife Ruth and he would travel to the Smokey Mountains, Clearwater, Florida and Branson, MO.
Surviving are his children, Doug (Jeannie) Ensch, Brian (Nadine Sims) Ensch, Deb Ensch, sister, Loretta (Frank) Crowe, 2 sisters-in-law, Jerry Ensch, Margaret "Nan" DeBard, brother-in-law, Charles Christman, 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Ensch, Andrea (Zac) Dudek, Anthony (Lynsey) Ensch, Gabriel Aigner, and 3 great-grandchildren, Jackson Wayne Ensch, Jade Ensch and Kade Cazzell along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth (Porter) Ensch, 4 siblings, Norman Ensch, Robert Ensch, Ronald Ensch, and Delores Christman
Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday February 3, 2014 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with calling 30 minutes prior to service. There is also calling Sunday, February 2, 2014, 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the United State Navy and American Legion Post 241.
