Irmgard V. Dammeyer, 92, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at St. Anne''s Home. She was born in Wolfach, Germany, daughter of the late Hans and Mathilde (Huber) Seger. She was a translator for the American Army during WWII. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and had retired from St. Joe Hospital as a scheduler in the radiology department.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wilmer C. Dammeyer; daughters, Linda (William) Furge of Columbia City, Darlene Furge of Fort Wayne, Bernice (Larry) Ulrich of Greenwood and Sandra (Steve) Hyndman of New Haven; brother, Herbert (Elke) Seger of Karlsruhe, Germany; brother in law, Ernst Siebert; eight grandchildren, K.C. (Stefanie) Furge, Kyle (Laura) Furge, Sarah (Shawn) Broz, Brooke (Ryan) Knapick, Jason Furge, Amanda Furge, Kelle (Jason) Brown and Sean Campbell; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Hans-Walter Seger and two sisters, Asella Seger and Thilde Siebert.
Funeral Service is 4 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. Deacon Jim Kitchens will be officiating. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
