Jack Duane Green, Sr., 80 passed Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Hospice Home with family by his side. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a son to the late Edward L. Green and Nellie E. (Miller) Green. Jack graduated from Central High School and then enlisted with the Navy in the reserves. He retired from Tokheim after 35 years of service. He loved helping those in need, serving on the board for Turnstone and Mental Health America of Allen County, working with United Way Community Services, Cancer Services of Allen County, and UAW Cap Council to name a few.
He is survived by wife of 44 years, Janey Laraine (Plothe) Green of Fort Wayne; children, Jack Jr. (Ruth) Green of Decatur, Timothy (Patti) Green of St. Mary''s, Ohio, Carla Mendez of Fort Wayne, Patty Sheneman of Fort Wayne, Donald (Shelly Ott) Green of South Korea, David (Tracy) Drew of New Haven, Troy (Heather) McBride of Fort Wayne and Shawn McBride of Fort Wayne; siblings, Ralph Meeks of Fort Wayne, Clifford "Skip" (Marilyn) Green of Florida, Darlene (Donald) Gourley of Pennsylvania and Dalene (Duane) Braden of Garrett; grandchildren, Timothy E. Green, Matthew Mendez, Joshua Mendez, Ryan Green, Erin Green, Nathan Sheneman, Seth Green, Josey McBride, Madissen Green, Matthew Drew, Treavor Drew, Nic Drew, Laura Drew, Rachel Drew and Jessica Mendez; and great grandchildren: Anthony, Timothy, Kylia, Kyrsten, Joshua, Krysta, Kyera, Josiah, Elaia, Nolan, Tristian, Brayden, Haley, Jonathon, Jeremiah, Liam and Blakely.
He was preceded also in death by siblings, Donald Meeks, Dolores Mitchell and Edward Green.
Funeral service is 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to Turnstone or United Way.
