Jack Leroy Landis, 73, of New Haven, died on, September 14, 2013 surrounded by his family at home. He was born in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Glen Landis and Edith Charline (Grandstaff) Landis. The Navy Veteran was a member of the Navy Club Ship 245, V.F.W. 2457 and Ironworkers Local 147. He retired from Don R. Fruchey as an Ironworker, in 1997.
He is survived by sons, Robert (Brenda) Landis and Loren (Carolyn) Landis both of Tocsin, Indiana, Tim (Benita) Landis, Jack Landis, Jr., John Landis all of New Haven and Richard Clark Landis of Glenwood, Arkansas; daughters, Jackie (Brian) Carter of New Haven and Jeanette C. Alcorn of Indianapolis; and five sisters, Barbara Mason, Sharon (Mike) White, Sue McAtee, Dixie (Dean) Emerson and Connie BonJour; five brothers, Merrill (Doris) Landis, Mike (Coleen) King, Leo (Becky) King, Ron King and Don (Ann) King; several grandchildren; and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by son, Jerry Landis, in 2003; grandson, Timothy Carter, in 2004; brothers, Glenn Landis and Jerry Landis.
Funeral service is 11 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials are to the Disabled American Veterans.
