James Boyd Hayes, 63, died on Saturday, January 23, at Parkview Hospital. He attended Covenant United Methodist Church. The Vietnam, U.S.M.C. Veteran was a member of the American Legion Post 47. He worked for more than 40 years as a Dispensing Optician around the Fort Wayne area, and recently at Sams Club. He is survived by his wife, Robin Hayes; son, Matt (Lindsay) Hayes; mother, Katherine Hayes; sisters, Barb Nickel, Kelly Brotherton and Kathy Tracy; nephews, Mark Wanzer, John and Cameron Elkins all of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father, Matthew Hayes, in 2003. Service is 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at Covington Funeral Home, 8404 Covington Road, with calling two hours prior. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
