James G. Boerger
December 8, 1930 - January 23, 2015

James Gillie Boerger, 84, of Panama City Beach, Florida and formerly of Fort Wayne and Delphi, Indiana, passed away on January 23, 2015. Born in Fort Wayne, he was to son of the late Arthur and Agnes Boerger. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Tokheim Corporation for 16 years as a tool and die maker and retired from Landis & Gyr in 1994 after 28 years of service as a manufacturing engineering supervisor.

Jim was a member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Panama City Beach, Florida where he was very active. He was also a member of Tri-Kappa Bridgerama, Delphi Lions Club past president, Chairman for the Carroll County Republican Party from 1991 to 1999, Oracle Club, American Society of Manufacturing Engineers, and Delphi City Councilman from 1980 to 1992. He was active in Florida in The Snow Birds Club at Horizon South and the Senior Citizens Center where he was a member of the Century Club Rockin' 100, and played Bridge, Euchre, Sixty-Five, Pinochle, and Cribbage. He loved his family and was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and was a caregiver to all he met. He also loved cooking and the Republican party. He was an Indiana Pioneer and a member of the Indiana Historical Society. Jim received the highest civilian honor in Indiana in April 2004 as a Sagamore of the Wabash - which his wife also received in December 1995.

He is survived by his sons, Jim, Jr. (wife Sue) of Northville, Michigan and Robert "Bob" in Florida; daughter, Amy Boerger (husband Brad Stinebring) of Columbus, Indiana; two grandchildren, Jessica Barry (Seth) and Joshua Boerger. His beloved pet Rosie also survives him. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Marguerite Boerger, in 2004; two brothers, Arthur and George Boerger; and sisters, Barbara Lamkins and Marjorie Parks.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2014 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana with visitation from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. that day. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be donated to the Society for Progressive Nuclear Palsy - PSP (www.psp.org) a disease that devastated his wife or to a charity of your choice. There will be a memorial service at a later date in Panama City Beach, FL.
