Obituary

James L. Lawrence, 73, of Whitley County, died on Sunday, February 12, 2012 in Pensacola, Florida. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Richard and Florence (Lytle) Lawrence.

A devoted Christian and member of the St. John''s Lutheran Church Lake Township. He was a humble man and his strong faith led his life. We will never forget his solitary love for his family. The Air Force veteran was a crew chief while stationed in France. He retired from American Hoist after 26 years of service and was a co-owner with his brother in their tool and die shop for more than 16 years. He had his private pilot license. He was a member of the Flying Shriners and a Master Mason. He was an avid outdoorsman, his lawn well manicured and garden pristine.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judith K; son, Matthew (Susan) Lawrence; daughter, Shelly (Jeff) Roberson all of Whitley County; brother, Don (Judy) Lawrence; sister, Ann (Bruce) Swihart all of Fort Wayne; and five treasured grandchildren, Zach (Shaley), Sam and Gabe Roberson, and Anna and John Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his first wife in 1962, Sharon K. Walmer-Lawrence.
