Obituary

James E. Lincoln, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Born May 3, 1943, in the house his grandfather built, Jimmy was part of the Emmaus Lutheran Church family. He was active with the Creighton-Home Neighborhood Association, Joselyn Steel Retirees Club, and Kiwanis Aktion Club. He learned woodworking at the Johnny Appleseed School and went on to build benches and other items for friends and neighbors from salvaged lumber. He served as assistant scoutmaster for BSA Troop 410 in the 1970s and 80s, helped at every neighborhood clean-up day, and made friends wherever he went. Each year, he gave homemade Christmas cards to all his acquaintances.

James was predeceased by his parents, Dorrence and Lucile (Stamm) Lincoln, and older sister, Sharron E. Treer. He is survived by younger sister Catherine E. Graham and nephews Harold W. Graham III, Brian K. Graham (godson), and Timothy Graham.

Memorial service held Tuesday, October 12, 11:00 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 8626 Covington Road, Reverend Roy C. Olsen, III, officiating. Graveside ceremony 1:00 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, 1801 Maumee Avenue in Fort Wayne with a light reception following at Memorial Park Pavilion. Memorials can be made to the Emmaus Lutheran Church Building Fund. Funeral coordination handled by Covington Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
