James Elmer Pond III, 71, went home to his Lord Sunday, March 22, 2015. Born Sept. 5, 1943, in Lebanon, Pa.,, he was a son of Frances T. and the late Rev. James E. Pond Jr. James was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Navy veteran. He was a police officer and detective for the Warner Robins Police Department in Warner Robins, Ga. for 14 years. He also served on the S.W.A.T. team and drove truck for 20 plus years. He was an avid fisherman and loved drawing. His passion was being caretaker for his wife Connie in these last years.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Pond; children, Tammie L. Boyd, Wendi Tague, Penny (Tony) Kovac, Tammy (Shawn) Atkinson, Terri Conner, Tara (Scott) Michael, and James (Chelsie Daugherty) Pond IV; sister, Frances (Howard) Perkey; brother, Edward (Cathy) Pond; 17 grandchildren; Aislinn, Lejunna Riley, Robert (Robbi) James, Chris, Ashley, Brian, Travis, Kelly, Cameron, Emily, Kami, Kaleb, Kloee, Justin, Josh, Logan, Lincoln and five great-grandchildren; Tanner, Trapper, Kadence, C.J. Aiden. He was preceded in death by one grandson Conner.

Service is1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling from11 a.m.until service time. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to Calvary Baptist Church.
