James S. Webb, Sr., 95, of New Haven, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2026. He was born July 25, 1931, in Spencerville to Dayton and Ethel (Shutt) Webb. He married Dorothy Girardot, and they shared 75 wonderful years together. She survives.

James honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for International Harvester before owning and operating his own trucking company with his wife.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion Post 420 and the Eagles. James enjoyed seeing new places and meeting new people while driving truck. He also enjoyed playing softball, coaching his children's athletic teams, watching NASCAR, fishing, making wine and woodworking.

James was a good husband, father and friend. He loved his grandchildren and was known for having a helper's heart. He was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; children, James (Mary) Webb Jr., Pamela Webb and Jeffrey (Jamesanna) Webb; grandchildren, Amy Lee, Christle (Tom), Brad (Kathleen) McBride, Amy McBride and Stacy (Corey Ball) Webb; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis; and three siblings, Lewis, Dayton Jr. and Maxine.

Visitation will be Friday, September 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., with graveside services and military honors to follow.
