Janet Louise Frede, a resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, hearing the words, “well done, good and faithful servant.” Born on January 16, 1941, in Fort Wayne, Janet’s life was marked by her boundless kindness, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Janet was known for her vibrant spirit and a wide array of interests that enriched her life and the lives of those around her. She delighted in puzzles, word searches, and ceramics, activities that reflected her thoughtful and creative nature. Her adventurous heart led her to travel frequently, with visits to Hawaii and Texas being among her favorite destinations. Janet also enjoyed social activities such as bowling, playing Euchre, and visiting a casino or two, always bringing warmth and joy to every gathering.

A devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church, Janet’s commitment to service was evident in her involvement with community meals and her compassionate work making cancer pads. Janet’s love for Jesus was evident to all who knew her. Her faith helped her throughout her lifetime. She was a beacon of generosity, always ready to offer an act of kindness to anyone in need, embodying a life of humility and care.

Janet’s family was the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces Marti (Paul) Ellerbrock, Tammy (Andrew) Steinacker, and Amy (Mike) Kupferer, along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Wilmer and Marie Frede, and her sister, Carol, whose memories she cherished deeply.

A visitation will be held on March 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, located at 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Janet Frede’s life was a testament to kindness, generosity, and a joyful spirit that touched many. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
