Obituary

Jenny Lee Gillie, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, 71, of Fort Wayne, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Renaissance Village with her family at her side. Born here in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen Crance. She was an avid golfer, who "routinely beat Larry". She was also active whether it was with her two small businesses she ran or keeping busy volunteering for many organizations. She was a past president of the Fort Wayne Women''s Golf Association. She was one of the founders of Links for Life and active with the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. She enjoyed working at Anne''s Hallmark where she retired from. She was a very energetic woman who was always willing to lend a hand. "Jenny you always woke up happy, cheerful and a warm smile on your face, one of the many great qualities that I will miss about you."
She was survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Larry; sons and daughters in law, John and Nikole Gillie, Steve and Kim Gillie, and Sam and Karen Gillie all of Fort Wayne; daughter and son in law, Christine and Christopher Stevens of Fort Wayne; brothers, Jim, Tom, Dick and Steve Crance; grandchildren, Krista (and her husband, Eric) von Burg, Matt, Taylor, Dylan, Logan, Sarah, Carter and Grace Gillie; two twin great grandsons, Henry and Harrison von Burg;
She was sadly preceded in death by her son, Paul Gillie; and a grandson, Mark Stevens.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Noon, Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2213 Brooklyn Ave, with calling one hour prior to service. Calling is also from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial are to the Alzheimers Association or Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.
