Obituary

Jerry Wayne Hettinger 83, went home to be with his Lord Monday, March 13, 2017. He was born October 21, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, IN to the late Otto and Ruth Hettinger. He worked for the Ft. Wayne Parks and Recreational Dept. for 45 years. Jerry was a member of New Beginnings Community Church as a deacon and American Legion Post #82. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Jerry and Joy both drove for Quality R.V. for 10 years.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years Joy Hettinger, children, Diana Lohr, Terri (Tom Hamrick) Heisey, Jerry (Lisa Rainey) Hettinger Jr., Joanna Hettinger, sisters, Mellaney (Jack) Mounsey, Judith (Jim) Arney, Kathy (David) Gunter, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Richard and Donald Hettinger and 1 sister Kay Keck.

Funeral service is 12:00 p.m. Friday March 17, 2017 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with viewing 1 hour prior to service. Pastor David Howe and Elder Wayne Meadows will offficiate. There is also viewing Thursday at the funeral home form 2 -4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors provided by the United States Air Force and American Legion Post 241Waynedale. Preferred memorials are to, the church.
