Obituary

Jerry Lee Reece, 74, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at her home. Jerry was born December 31, 1939 in Ponca City, OK to the late Guy and Opal Malone. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Jerry has been a constant source of comfort and encouragement to all who were blessed to know her. She courageously fought breast cancer thirty plus years. Jerry''s fun loving spirit and her zest for life cannot be surpassed. She continued doing everything she enjoyed even during her numerous rounds of radiation and chemo therapy. "Quit" was not in her vocabulary. In things that mattered, she made certain they happened. One week prior to her passing Jerry was looking out for others, and putting their needs and desires above her own. Some questioned her drive and her determination because of weakened and frail condition, to which Jerry replied "I will not quit living until I stop breathing. Life is too short not to give it all I have." Special thanks and gratitude go to Dr. Stephen Rhinehart who has been Jerry''s oncologist for thirty-two years. Without his professional medical knowledge and the implementation of that knowledge into Jerry''s treatment she would not have had the quality of life she lived. Also with respect and thanks belong to the Ft. Wayne Oncology staff. Jerry loved being a home-maker to Cecil her husband of fifty-five years and caring for Tam and Kim, their daughters. As her family matured Jerry found other families to serve. She became a C.A.N. at Covington Manor Nursing Home in 1987. The residents and staff were beneficiaries of Jerry''s excellent devotion and care. She treated them as she wanted to be treated, retiring in 2002. Much of Jerry''s latter years were filled with being mammaw and granny to Myron Daniel and Glen Michael. They were a great source of pride and joy to her through their generosity of choosing to spend their free time through their academic and career accomplishments and most of all through their obvious total love and concern for their mammaw and granny.

Surviving are her husband, Cecil Reece, daughters, Tamera (Craig) Bosselman, Kimberly (Myron) Bowers, sisters, Bobbie Cain, Betty McKnight and grandsons, Myron Daniel and Glen Michael Bowers, sisters-in-law, Hester Frost, Judy Reece-Powers, Alberta Hale, Callie Hayes and brother-in-law, Bud Reece. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Glynn and Dr. Michael Malone.
