Jimmy F. Spangle, 84, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born April 26, 1931 in Ft. Wayne to the late Eugene and Pauline Spangle. He was a 1949 graduate of South Side High School then attended International Business College 1949-1951. He was an Air Force Veteran 1955-1959. Over the years, Jim worked in sales for Grip Nut, Lamson & Sessions, Huntington Labs, Fastener House then in 1976 started his own business, Spangle Fasteners Inc., which he was Founder and President until 2009. He attended The Chapel, and was a 32nd degree Free & Accepted Mason and a Shriner. Jim and his family enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida and summers at Lake James.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Sharron R. (Poyser) Spangle, daughters, Tami (Danny) Hiter, Alisa (Michael) Wiedelman, Mendi Funk, son Gary Harp, granddaughters, Shelby Hiter, Tori Hiter, Meghan Wiedelman, grandson, Patrick Wiedelman, brother, Robert Barnes, and sister Carol Sue Slattery. Jim was preceded in death by a son Terry Miller.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Rd., with viewing 1 hour prior to service. There is also viewing at the funeral home Monday, March 28 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Preferred memorials are to Community Harvest Food Bank or The Rescue Mission Ft. Wayne. Military honors will be presented by United States Air Force and American Legion 241 Waynedale. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.
