Joan Elizabeth (Beeching) Thayer, 82 , of Fort Wayne passed away January 4, 2022. She was born November 10, 1939 in Fort Wayne to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Sanford) Beeching, Sr.

Joan graduated from North Side High School, Class of 1959. She married Larry Thayer and together they raised two children. Joan went on to earn a certificate in dental assisting and worked for a dentist in her early years. She then went on to be a homemaker and retired as an in-home daycare provider. In her spare time, Joan enjoyed BINGO, visiting casinos to play the slots, and spending time at the lake making memories with family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and took pleasure in cooking dishes for her loved ones. Most of all, she loved her family and sharing her time with them. Joan was an amazing woman, kind, caring, fun and generous; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joan will be forever remembered by her husband, Larry; children, Thomas (Kathy) Thayer, and Teresa (Jim) Frederick; grandchildren, Jennifer Kemerley (Steve) , Kevin Bemman , and Joe Bemman ; great grandchildren, Haeli and Haidon Himes, and Mariah, Jasmine, Oliver, and Aliza Bemman ; sister, Jeanette Troutner; sister-in-law, Elaine Beeching; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Beeching, Jr., and Richard Beeching.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 11 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Funeral service is Wednesday, January 12 at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior to service, also at Covington Memorial.
