Joan Ruth Smith, 89, died October 27, 2019.  Born in Fort Wayne she was a daughter to the late, Walter Juliius Schweizer and Marie (Dafforn) Schweizer.  She was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.  Joan worked in the kitchen at IUPU Fort Wayne.

Joan is survived by children, Gary (Robin) Smith, Michael (Collette) Smith and Lesa Starr; 9 grandchildren, Brandon (Becky) Smith, Dustin (Kristin) Minthorn, Andrew Minthorn, Kyra (Steven) Bryan, Jessica Smith Gabrielle Smith Mikaela Smith, Monica Starr and Heather Starr; and 8 great grandchildren, Iivy, Bryson, Marrisa, Byrnn, Stella, Payton, Grady and Leland.

Joan was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Allen Smith, on September 27, 2019; sister, Geraldine (Russell) Krebs.

Private services were held for the family.
