Joane Elaine Peterson, 72, of Seven Lakes, NC died Tuesday June 9, 2009 in the Medina Family Care Nursing Home in North Bend, WA. Mrs. Peterson was born November 8, 1936 in Conneaut, OH to the late Frank and Laura Mae Basen.The family moved to Ft. Wayne where she was raised. She Graduated from Central High School in 1954. She married Earl Rogers in 1956 and they later divorced. In 1974 she married Charles Peterson and he survives. They moved to Chicago in 1979 Rock Island, IL in 1982 and Richmond, IN in 1990. Following a bout with lung cancer, Joane and Charles retired to Seven Lakes in 2000. In 2002, she suffered a malignant brain tumor and her physical and mental health declined. To be with her daughter at this time, she moved to North Bend, WA. She advanced through secretarial positions including Peter Eckrich Co. in Ft. Wayne; Monroe Industries in Chicago and Allan Hartsock Law Firm in Rock Island. An avid golfer, Joane was a member of Seven Lakes Country Club, Seven Lakes, NC, and she had previously been a member of Forest Hills Country Club, Richmond, IN and Short Hills Country Club, East Moline, IL. She loved to watch pro golf and pro basketball on TV. She was a dog lover and from 1982 she usually owned two miniature schnauzers. Joane was a devoted wife, a committed mother and a loving grandmother. Surviving are her daughter, Sheri Rogers (Ashok Srinivasan) of North Bend, WA; son, Michael Rogers (Angie) of Dallas, TX; stepson Chuck Peterson (Maggie) of Winchester, VA, and 6 grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the service time at 11:30 am followed by committal at Covington Memorial Gardens.
