John L. Jefferies Sr., 83, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday Nov. 6, 2007 at Sunrise Assisted Living. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a specification Compiler at International Harvester for over 32 years retiring in 1982 and also owner of Jefferies Ballroom Dance Studio from 1960 to 1971. He retired from the Naval Reserve after 30 years as a Chief Personnel Man and was a WW II veteran of the Merchant Marine, serving in European and Pacific waters. He is survived by a granddaughter, Chloe Jefferies of Des Moines, IA; Daughter-in-law, Linda Jefferies, of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Betty J. Failor, and Helen M. Goonen both of Ft. Wayne. He was preceded in death by a son, John L. Jefferies Jr. in 200, and a sister, Norma Stemen. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday with calling one hour prior at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. Calling also 1-4 & 6- 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorial to Crosspoint Community Church or Alzheimer's Association.
