John Spoor passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on May 24, 1931. He graduated from H.B. Plant High School in Tampa Florida. He attended Ohio State University and completed his college degree at Kent State University in Ohio where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.

After his time with the U.S. Navy, he met and married his wife Joyce Iris Schaffer, and together they had two daughters. He worked in sales for Shell Oil and Mars Corp and was an international sales manager for CR Bard. During his tenure at CR Bard, he and his family lived in the Netherlands and Belgium, and he and his wife traveled the world extensively. He was then the owner of Spoor Dental Supply in Kettering, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Iris Spoor, who passed in July 2020; father, William L.J. Spoor; mother, Maria Catherine Spoor; two brothers, William L.J. Spoor Jr. and Jacob Spoor; and two sisters, Alexandra Wepster and Maria Catherine Bollerup.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Paul Shrawder, and Cynthia and Kent Ramm. He is also survived by his grandchildren Brian and Kevin Shrawder, Connor (Danielle) Ramm, Marc (Kiana) Ramm and Elizabeth Ramm.

John was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, John Durst Lodge, F&AM, Dayton Antioch Shrine Center, Dayton Exchange Club, Dayton Score, Centerville Sister City Committee, and the Dayton Holland American Club. He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He and Joyce will also be remembered as avid Ohio State Buckeyes fans!

There will be no visitation, and per John’s wishes cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to Stillwater Foundation at stillwater-hospice.org/donate.
