Joseph H. Yater, 99, of Fort Wayne passed away at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home on Thursday, March 4, 2021.  A son of the late Vernon and Theresa (Elleman) Yater, he was born July 7, 1921 in Young America, IN.  Joseph was a World War II Army veteran and he worked for and retired from International Harvestor.  He was a member of Liberty Mills Church of the Nazarene.  Surviving is his son, Ronald (Janet) Yater; daughter, Beverly (Buzz) Ditmer; grandchildren, Dawn (Klint) Crawford; Rochelle (Brian) Ruble; Jeffrey (Jennifer Buck) Yater; and Lori (Scott) Delacy; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Baird Yater and one great-grandchild. Funeral service is 1:00 PM Monday, March 8, 2021 at Covington Memorial Garden Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd. with calling two hours prior. Social distancing and mask requirements will be observed.  Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.  Memorial donations may be made to Liberty Mills Church of the Nazarene.
