Josephine Halter, 95, passed Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Lutheran Life Villages, Pine Valley. Born in Columbia City, she was a daughter to the late Cecil and Faith (Miller) Phend. She had worked for Truck Engineering in the office and was a seamstress for Fort Wayne Tailoring. Josephine and her late husband Jack were owners of Halter Pool Tables in New Haven. She was a member of Agape Church of the Brethren.

She was survived by a daughter, Sharron Rose Spangle of Fort Wayne; son, Jerry Lee (Patty) Poyser of Angola; sister, Betty J. Pepple of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Debbie Castor, Lori Bottomley, Tami Hiter, Alisa Wiedelman, Mark Poyser, Rick Poyser, Adam Halter and Erin Halter ; 14 great grandchildren, Joey, Joshua, Amy, Sarah, Daniel, Shelby, Meghan, Tori, Patrick, Riley, Madison, Ethan, Brianna and Ember; and 3 great great grandchildren, Elleana, Lily and Luna.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Jack Halter, in 1989; sons, Del Halter, Lowell Mac and Wayne Allen Poyser; son-in-law, Jimmy F. Spangle; a granddaughter, Teri Lynn Meyers; and siblings, Harold Phend, Madelyn Walters and Evelyn R. Winebrenner.

Funeral Service is 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Officiating will be Chaplain Cheryl Schmidt from Heartland Hospice. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven. Preferred memorial are to Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control or Harvest Comm. Food Bank.
