Esterline
May 31, 1938 – July 23, 2020
Judith Ann Esterline, 82, was called home to God Thursday, July 23, 2020, surrounded by her family. Born in Peru, she was a daughter to the late Willian S. Pennycoff and Blanch M. (Cattin) Fouts. Judy had worked for GTE as a Personal Directors Secretary and she had also worked in the mortgage business.
Judy loved nature, ALL of it! She camped, hiked, backed packed she enjoyed the plants and animals, especially cats. She loved outdoors and nature so much she taught classes in backpacking, orienteering, wild edible foods, outdoor cooking, outdoor survival, plant identification and animal tracking. She was an instructor for DHR, Fox Island, Merry Lea, Schools and Earth Adventures and Acres.
Judy was into photography, reading and identification and history.
She also found time to volunteer for 32 years with the Girl Scouts; she was a troop leader and trip leader.
Judy was a Master Trainer, Limerlost Council President, given the Thanks Badge and Thanks Badge II, the highest national award in 1992. She received the New Channel 15 "15 Who Care Volunteer" award. She was also a volunteer for Lutheran Disability Outreach and an Outstanding Volunteer for 2005.
Judy was recently a member of Dunfee Missionary Church. She was a Sunday school teacher and Friendship Volunteer for Christ Community Church.
Judy is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Larry William Esterline; daughter, Lisa Esterline; sister, Suzanne (Richard) Eckerley; sister-in-law, Patti Fouts; nieces and nephews; and all of her cats.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Bill Pennycoff and Michael Fouts.
A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family and A celebration will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse or Allen County S.P.C.A.
