June Rose Briner, of Fort Wayne, passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, peacefully at her home with her family by her side, after an eleven month battle with lung cancer. She was born in Detroit, Michigan On April 11, 1932, daughter to the late, Fred and Minnie Waterman. She was the beloved wife of Clifton Briner Sr., they were married on April 12, 1952. She was an active member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She served as a Den Leader for Cub Scouts, Girl Scout Leader, and member of the Stock Club in Timbercrest and was in the PTA. June loved traveling, especially to see her family; reading, gardening, bird watching, swimming and always family oriented and very supportive of her friends and family. June was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be truly missed.
She is survived by her husband of 58 wonderful years, Clifton Briner, Sr.; children, Clifton (Phyllis) Briner Jr., Carol (John) Spencer, Cheryl Briner and Cathy (Jon) Rowe; fourteen grandchildren, Greg, Emily, Mary, Steven, Liz, Will, Holly, Abby, Joe, Stephanie, John, Patrick, Emma and Hannah; eight grandchildren, Mackenzie, Savannah, Miles, Reagan, Peyton, mason, Lincoln and Wyatt and two on the way are Addison and Moriah.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Myrtle Gaubatz, James Waterman, Olga Gaudy, Lawrence Waterman, Carson Waterman, Vern Hollaway, Cal Waterman, Gladys Burley and grandson, Greg Koenig.
The family of June Briner would like to thank the American Cancer Society, Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home and the Women of Aldersgate United Methodist Church for all their support and caring during this time of need.
Celebration of her life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, with calling one prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorials are to American Cancer Society.
