Karl F. Wemmel, 82, died Thursday May 3, 2012 at his home. Born February 9, 1930 in Hardegsen, Germany to the late Fritz and Erna (Altmann) Wemmel. Karl came to the United States in 1957. He retired after 37 years of service from the Essex Wire Co. as a truck mechanic in 1994. He was a member of the Ft. Wayne Sports Club. Surviving are his daughter, Susan Pratt, Ft. Wayne, IN, sisters, Anita Bliwernitz, Ft. Wayne, IN, Lieselotte Freitag and Ria May both of Germany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ilse (Kunz) Wemmel in 1998 and a son-in-law Lynn Pratt in 2009. Calling is 6-8 p.m. Monday May 7, 2012 at Covington Memorial Funeral Home 8408 Covington Rd.
