Obituary

Kathryn Luella Clark, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born on July 7, 1931, in Danville, Illinois, Kathy was the daughter of Donald and Ruby Bunch.

Kathy had a profound love for travel, journeying with friends and church groups to destinations such as California, Ireland, Jerusalem, and Canada. In earlier years, Kathy and her late husband, Larry Clark, enjoyed traveling together to Virginia and she continued to do so after his passing.

Her affinity for the outdoors was well known among family and friends. Mushroom hunting was a favorite pastime with sister Sally S. Bloomfield of Westville, Illinois. Gardening was truly a passion for Kathy and she loved to share her beautiful yard and gardening tips with friends.

A devoted member of St. Joe Catholic Church, Kathy’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She attended church faithfully and was actively involved in many church activities. She played a vital role in supporting her community by assisting with funeral dinners and singing in the church choir. Her consistent commitment to her faith family filled her calendar until her health no longer allowed her to participate.

Kathy was renowned for her culinary skills, particularly her delight in decorating cakes and baking treats that brought happiness to those around her. The neighborhood children treasured the baked goods she lovingly provided to celebrate their milestones.

Her love for cats was well known, and the Clark home was a haven for various fur babies throughout the years, including her sweet dog, Maggie.

Kathy is survived by her sisters, Sally S. Bloomfield and Molly M. Farrell; her longtime friends Gina Wyatt, Ken Jehle, Jennifer Jehle and their children Jonathan, Aaron, Jacob, Adam and Megan; her “adopted” son Jeff Daniels; nephew Richard Lappin of Illinois; and niece Janice Hill of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Larry Clark; five siblings; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy’s informal caregiving neighbors Carolyn Beitz and Cara Ratay would like to express their deepest thanks to the Park Place Memory Care caregivers and staff, and the Solace Hospice nursing team for their unwavering love and tender care of Kathy in her final years. They expressed that her last few weeks of life were joyous, and she would burst out in singing and return all their love with kisses and laughter. These women respond to their calling with grace and compassion, doing the hardest work with the softest hearts.

In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, cremation will take place.
