Obituary

Keith LaRue Deeter, 91, was born in Union City, IN on April 1, 1933 to Mildred (LaRue) and Ivan Deeter.  He lived most of his life in Fort Wayne and Roanoke, IN.  Keith graduated from Elmhurst in 1951 and went directly into the Marines to serve in the Korean War.  As a veteran he became a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 160 in Roanoke.

Keith married Dorothy Pope of Wilmington, NC on January 1, 1955 in Conway, SC.  They remained married for 68 years, 3 months, 11 days and 8 and three quarter hours.  He loved installing floor coverings but loved most of all farming his 40 acres.  One major stronghold for him was his faith and his membership with Monson Chapel UMC and all its members.

It was in God's plan to move to Indianapolis in 1997 to be near their fourth daughter, Evelyn, who became their caregiver and his angel on earth.

He is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, and three of their four daughters, Debra Miller, Donna Kahn and Cheryl Ann Deeter.  He is survived by his sister, Martha Jane Chilcote; his daughter, Evelyn Safder; 10 grandchildren (Scott, Christina, Jason, Michael, Fatimah, Yousef, Rebecca, Gregory, Matthew and Sabrina); 10 great-grandchildren (Hannah, Kaitlyn, Brooke, Devlin LaRue, Braylon, Mason, Ian, Holland, Zara and Dean Keith); and 2 great-great grandchildren (Matthias and Calliope).
