Kenneth Wayne Mote, 76, of Huntington, died Monday, March 10, 2014 at Lutheran hospital. He was born in Huntington, to the late Leander and Dorothy (Brenn) Mote. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion in Huntington and D.A.V. He retired from Kmart after 37 years of service as a warehouse forklift driver. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. He coached his children''s baseball and softball leagues. He was an avid bowler who loved to collect ships, lighthouses and enjoyed old cars. Kenny didn't know a stranger always willing to lend a hand. "You will be missed, we love you dearly."
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ruth Ann Mote; son, Steven (Susan) Mote of Huntington; daughter, Sally (Kent) Burkhead of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Brock, Brenden, Emily, Katie, Paige and Kent; and great grandsons, Lorenzo, Bentley and Asher.
He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Aiden; three brothers, Raymond, Donald and Robert; and two sisters, Gladis Szelis and Marjorie Karst.
Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also 2-4 and 6-8 Friday at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Hostetler. He will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials are to D.A.V.
