Larry J. Smith, 71, died peacefully, Thursday, July 24, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born in Logansport, son of the late, Joe and Virginia (Grusenmeyer) Smith. He served his country in the Army during Vietnam. He worked at E-Systems in Huntington, Magnavox as a contract administrator and then retired from Allen County highway Department in 2005. He was in Ham Radio Operator for 55 years.

He is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Donna Kathleen (Flaugher) Smith of Fort Wayne; his twin sons, Steve (Denise) and Rod (Vicki) Marquart both of Fort Wayne; grandmother, Carmel Grusenmeyer of Logansport; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patti; and sadly his 16 year old daughter, Cheri Smith.

Funeral Service is 2 p.m., Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Covington Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, with calling starting at 10 a.m. till service time. Pastor Greg Byman officiating. He will be honored with military rights. Preferred memorials are to St. Joe Community Church or Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or Donor''s Choice.
