Lawrence P. Rooks, 57, died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at DeKalb Memorial Hospital. Born December 13, 1948 in Fort Wayne to Patrick E. and Mary Celeste (Schenkel) Rooks, he was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and was an entreprenuer, enjoying a variety of business interests throughout his life, including real estate sales, administration of several (not for profit) businesses, and also as owner of a telecommunications company. Larry was very civic and community minded, and received tremendous satisfaction in being of service to others. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church (Corunna), Auburn Rotary Club, Board Member of the Indiana Rural Housing Authority, member of the Indiana Board of Realtors, Eagles Club (Warren, Mich.), the Mastermind Group and also was active in Junior Acheivement. Survivors include companion, Gail McKinley of Garrett; daughter, Jennifer (David) MacDonald of Fort Wayne; son, Douglas L. Rooks (Kelly J. Herber-Rooks) of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Kathryn MacDonald, Emma MacDonald, Andrew MacDonald, Peter MacDonald, Reanna Rooks and Melinda Herber; mother, Mary Celeste Rooks of Clearwater, FL; brothers, Daniel Rooks of Sarasota, FL, Ronald (Cathy) Rooks of Wesley Chapel, FL and Richard (Patty) Rooks of Clearwater, FL.
