Lawrence "Larry" Allen Witte, 68, died peacefully Friday, April 30, 2010 at home with his family at his side. Born on August 26, 1941, in Fort Wayne, the son of Paul and Velma (Sorg) Witte, he Graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1959. He was a Journeyman Pattern Maker for 30 years at Cole Pattern & Eng, Inc. He co-owned Braun-Witte Patterns, Inc. in Kendallville with his business partner, Tom Braun. In 1995, he and his wife moved to Oliver Lake in Lagrange County where he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending his time with family and friends. He and his wife loved going to auctions and traveling. He was a collector of Roy Rogers memorabilia (in 1994 he actually met Roy at his California Museum), pocket knives, die cast model cars, trucks and airplanes. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, whom he married on August 6, 1961 in Kendallville, Nedra F.(Smith) Witte of Wolcottville; son, Brent; daughter, Carole (Tim) Langston both of Fort Wayne; grandsons, Daniel and Tyler Langston; father, Paul of Wolcottville; sisters, Darla Samra of New Haven and Jean (Steve) Parnin of Fort Wayne. He is preceded in death by his mother, Velma Witte in 1985; mother and father in law, Dale and Mildred Smith. Service is 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Covington Memorial Gardens, 8408 Covington Road. Calling is 3 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be entombed at Covington Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
