Leo H. Estabrook, 88, died on Saturday April 18, 2009 at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Wayne, IN from complications of Parkinson''s disease. Born in Charleston, ME, he received his Bachelor''s Degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Maine in 1943. During his freshman year, his team won the National Cross-Country Championship. In 1942 he married his high school sweetheart, June Pauline Dow, who preceded him in death in 1989. He served in the Army during WWII and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star for his service in France and Germany. Upon returning home to Maine, he taught Vocational Agriculture for four years and later became Vice President of Nichols Inc., a poultry genetics company, in New Hampshire. He moved to Fort Wayne in 1961 and finished his career working for Central Soya, heading up the broiler division. During that time, he traveled all over the country, and made friends where ever he went. He was an avid golfer, and after he retired, frequently visited many close friends while attending the Masters in Augusta, GA. Surviving are his daughter Judy Shepard-Estabrook and son Dale (Claudette) Estabrook of Fort Wayne, and son Jay (Judy) Estabrook of Flower Mound, TX, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Private, family graveside service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Covington Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8804 Covington Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Leo''s memory to the Jorgensen Family YMCA
