Lester R. Carey, 101, died at Stillwater Hospice on 5/19/2022, having lived with his daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Doug Barcalow, for 21 years, prior to a fall one week ago.

Lester was born in Bloomsburg, PA, the youngest son of Ira Doty Carey and Rosa Lee (Gibson) Carey.
A WWII vet, he returned home in January 1946; met Vilena in May of that year, and they married in October of 1946. They shared 65 years together prior to her death.

He retired from Dana Corporation in 1980, then spent many years volunteering with various organizations until 2019.

He is survived by four daughters: Laurenna (Neil, dec.) Rinehart; Pam (Doug) Barcalow; Maridell (Bill Farr) Carey; and JaNean (LeWayne) Fisher. He is also survived by multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Karen (Paul) Plante of Phoenix, AZ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vilena, in 2012.

Memorial service is at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, 5/31, with calling one hour prior, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home in Fort Wayne (8408 Covington Road).
